Island Hospital offers a complete
range of diagnostic and

general radiology and subspecialty

Three subspecialties
of note are:

nuclear medicine procedure
that is able to detect
certain diseases before other
imaging procedures, such as
CT scan and MRI. Rhode
Island Hospital is the first
hospital in the state to
offer PET.
- Endovenous laser treatment, or EVLT, a non-surgical,
non-scarring treatment for
vein abnormalities, uses
ultrasound guidance and
laser to seal veins and eliminate
protrusion. For more

consultation with a board certified
physician, please

- Radiofrequency ablation,
or RFA, a minimally invasive

used to treat liver tumors. At
Rhode Island Hospital, we
have taken RFA a step further
by broadening its application.
RFA has been used
successfully to combat breast,
kidney, liver, lung, adrenal
and bone cancer. In the two
years following FDA approval,
more than 90 patients
have undergone RFA here.
To date this is the largest use
