Our Partnership With Brown Medical School

Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University logoRhode Island Hospital is a teaching hospitals for the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University—the only medical school in Rhode Island. At our combined institutions, we have a total of 70 training programs and 580 physicians in training; we are far and away the largest training site in the state. Lifespan hospitals, Rhode Island Hospital, The Miriam Hospital and Bradley Hospital, provide the principal sites for clinical training of approximately 175 third- and fourth-year students at Brown University.

As of the fall of 2005, 337 Brown Medical School graduates lived in Rhode Island—about eight percent of the state’s physicians. Lifespan’s graduate medical education department plays an important role in attracting, developing and retaining medical talent in the state.

In addition, as a result of Lifespan's relationship with the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, exciting research projects are underway that are improving patient care.
