The Medical Intensive Care Unit
The medical intensive care unit (MICU) at Rhode Island Hospital
is directed and staffed by the hospital's division of pulmonary
and critical care medicine. The MICU is an 18-bed unit located on
the seventh floor of the hospital.
Our Services
Patients are admitted to the MICU for specialized service, including
mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring and kidney transplant
therapies. 24-hour care and monitoring is provided by physicians
and critical care nurses.
A Team Approach
MICU staff members take a team approach to each patient's care.
The multidisciplinary team consists of a physician, critical care
nurses, respiratory therapists, secretaries, and housekeeping and
ancillary service providers.
