Diagnostic Imaging School
Medical Sonography Program
The Ultrasound Program is a 14-month, hospital-based program. The program consists of two sections:
-
Dedicated classroom instruction, which includes cross-sectional anatomy, pathology, pathophysiology, ultrasound physics and instrumentation.
- An extensive clinical component, which includes applications and direct patient contact.
All clinical practice sessions take place at Rhode Island Hospital, and its Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Women & Infants’ Hospital and The Miriam Hospital. Students will be working in the hospital with physicians, radiology professionals and other members of the healthcare team. Students will participate in innovative procedures such as radiofrequency ablation, intraoperative procedures and the latest medical research projects.
Students who complete the program are awarded a certificate of graduation and are eligible to take the certifying examination offered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
