In 2003, the
Division of Neuropsychiatry at Rhode Island Hospital was established
to evaluate and treat individuals with brain-behavior disorders, to
conduct neuropsychiatric research and to provide education on
neuropsychiatric disorders.
Neuropsychiatry addresses the overlap between brain and behavior.
Consultative evaluations are performed on inpatients and outpatients.
The neuropsychiatric examination provides a clinical assessment and
treatment recommendations coordinating the neurologic, psychiatric,
neuropsychological and psychosocial domains.
Our program is affiliated with Brown University's departments of psychiatry and neurology and conducts studies sponsored by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), the American Epilepsy Society, other private foundations and the department of psychiatry at Rhode Island Hospital.
