Epilepsy surveillance

Members of Rhode Island Hospital's CEP team meet regularly to review patients who may be candidates for surgery and determine each patient's best course of care.

Our physicians are nationally known for their expertise in advanced epilepsy care, and in the development of treatments for non-epileptic seizures. Rhode Island Hospital’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Program (CEP) offers epilepsy care that is on par with the very best in the world.

The CEP operates under the direction of Andrew S. Blum, MD, PhD, medical director of the program and G. Rees Cosgrove, MD, FRCSC, surgical director of the program.

Andrew S. Blum, MD, PhD, is medical director of the comprehensive epilepsy program and director of the EEG laboratory at Rhode Island Hospital. He also directs the neurology residency training program at Rhode Island Hospital, and is an associate professor of neurology at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

G. Rees Cosgrove, MD, FRCSC, is chief of neurosurgery at Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital and surgical director of the comprehensive epilepsy program.
