RI Gambling Treatment Program

Gambling Treatment Program

Our mascot is a turtle.
Why a turtle?

It has never been easier for people to gamble legally, comfortably and conveniently on a wide variety of games and events. Unfortunately, for some people gambling becomes much more than a harmless form of entertainment. They spend more time thinking about gambling, they gamble much more often, and they lose much more money than they can afford. Gambling becomes an obsession, not a pastime. When gambling becomes a problem, professional help is available.

At the Rhode Island Gambling Treatment Program, we do not take any political or moral position on the expansion of gambling opportunities. We are solely interested in providing   the most comprehensive and effective professional Mental Health services available to problem gamblers.

Since September 2001, we have treated approximately 1,300 gambling addicts. Our approach to Mental Health includes demonstrating the value and effectiveness of our services, so we are dedicated to clinical research as well. We have discovered that the large majority of our patients have improved significantly following treatment and they have maintained improvement for more than 6, 12 and even 18 months.

The program includes:

  • Individual, group and family therapy with licensed clinical psychologists who are gambling specialists.
  • Medication consultation and management.
  • Complete confidentiality.
  • State-supported assistance for the uninsured.
