Thomas Bledsoe, MD, FACP

Thomas Bledsoe, MD, is a general internist and a specialist in medical ethics at Rhode Island Hospital, where he also serves as the vice chair of the Rhode Island Hospital Ethics Committee. He is also a clinical associate professor of Medicine at Brown Medical School and the interim director of the center for biomedical ethics at Brown Medical School, where he teaches medical ethics to residents and medical students. His particular areas of interest include clinical bioethics and medical education, informed consent, models of shared decision making and ethical issues related to end-of-life care.

Bledsoe has been an invited guest speaker and written numerous articles on the subjects of assessing competency, the physician's role in end-of-life care, respecting patients' wishes at end-of-life and other topics in the area of medical ethics.
