Curtis Doberstein, MD

Curtis Doberstein, MD, is the interim chief and residency director of the department of neurosurgery at Rhode Island Hospital. He is also an associate professor in the department of clinical neuroscience at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where he is a three-time recipient of the Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award.

Doberstein has served as the director of vascular neurosurgery and as the surgical director of the stroke program at Rhode Island Hospital. He is the author of numerous publications and abstracts and has lectured internationally. His research includes studies in ischemia and craniocerebral trauma, cerebral blood flow and metabolism, head injury, stroke and arteriovenous malformations.

Doberstein received his bachelor’s degree from Haverford College in Pennsylvania and his medical degree from McGill University Faculty of Medicine in Montreal, Quebec.  He completed his internship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA and his fellowship and residency at the UCLA School of Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons.
