Your physician may refer you to our nuclear cardiology laboratory for testing and evaluation if you have been diagnosed or may likely be diagnose with cardiovascular disease. We offer a spectrum of all-digital testing to deliver accurate, fast images to you and your physician about the condition of your heart.

Our nuclear imaging tests evaluate how your heart functions during exercise. If you cannot exercise, we can perform the test using special drugs that simulate exercise. The tests help us determine your heart’s capacity, physical conditioning and if it is receiving enough blood under stress or rest conditions.

We have several nuclear cameras dedicated to cardiac studies, which are equipped with the most sophisticated technology available. Our lab was one of the first hospitals in the nation to pioneer a new method of diagnosing and treating coronary artery disease by distinguishing true perfusion defects from those that may be caused by artifacts. Our state-of-the-art equipment allows us to confidently determine if a stress scan is normal in patients with chest pain, in many cases eliminating the need to return for a second test. You may also be eligible to participate in a variety of clinical research studies underway in our labs.

Our nuclear medicine technologists and nurses have specialized cardiac training in noninvasive stress testing of the heart. The physicians who read the tests are national leaders in the field and even prepare the exams for new technologists who are entering the field. Test results are reported within 24 hours and within a few hours for our emergency room patients. We perform approximately 2,500 scans each year.

It is important that you follow the instructions your physician gives you to prepare for the test. If you have any questions, please feel free to call 401-444-3352
