MRAdmission Requirements

The exploration into a new modality in radiology for future career opportunities can be extremely exciting, even if the process of exploring education opportunities can be a little unnerving. Here at the RIH School of Diagnostic Imaging-MRI program we make this an easy and pleasant experience.

All MRI program applicants are welcome to set up a time to come into the RIH School of Diagnostic Imaging and meet with the MRI director/clinical coordinator to discuss the MRI program. Time will be allowed for the applicant or interested candidate to review the program policies and procedures prior to application and/or acceptance. Time can be allowed to discuss both questions and concerns.

In order to be considered for admission into the Magnetic Resonance Program Each applicant must meet these minimum requirements:

  • ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist /State License

In the event that interested candidates is not yet a certified Radiologic Technologist, the individual should return to the main radiology program home page and explore that as an option first.

In the event that a radiologic technology student has not received a passing score from the radiologic technologist exam with the ARRT before the schedule start date, he/she will be dismissed from the MRI program.

  • CPR certified

  • Have six months to one year of recent clinical patient care in radiology
  • Physically meet health requirements

  • Pass an MRI safety screening, which is necessary to function as an MRI technologist within the MRI environment

  • A recent physical with documented Proof of current immunizations, must be dated within 60 days

The admission process is highly competitive. Be aware, in all phases of the admission process, you will be evaluated. There are unfortunately a select number of candidates chosen. The MRI director/clinical coordinator endeavors to select candidates with the most promise of becoming outstanding MRI technologists.

The MRI director/clinical coordinator considers information that depicts an applicant’s total qualifications for the MRI program and practice without regard to race, color, gender, sexual orientation, gender identification or expression, genetic information, age, religion, national or ethnic origin, veteran or disability.
