Magnetic Resonance Imaging Program

Clinical Experience

ClinicalThe required clinical practicum is referred to as competency-based education. The curriculum is structured based on defined objectives and competencies. Upon successful completion students are able to act as MRI technologists according to professional standards.

Our main focus clinically is to provide enough exposure, experience, and exam repetition to allow each student to be proficient, confident, and perform with competence. The program also strives to support each student’s clinical requirements as a prerequisite for post primary certification in MRI. The director-clinical coordinator monitors each MR student individually to assure the accumulation of all the requirements needed, within the 10-month program, to sit for the The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists advanced MR certification exam (and/or any MRI certification desired). The program supports the clinical experience requirements/standards set by the ARRT.

Each student has scheduled access and rotation to the MRI clinical facilities that Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital and Rhode Island Medical Imaging Centers have to offer. We will provide a balanced education sufficient in quantity and variety of MRI examinations as well as diversified modern equipment.

Students in the clinical setting are required to follow ARRT, TJC, and ACR standards; as HIPPA and etc.

Students requiring more information to help their decision process, please feel free to contact us.
