School of Diagnostic Imaging

Radiologic Technology Program

The Evening Program

The Rhode Island Hospital School of Diagnostic Imaging of Radiologic Technology Clinical Education Program offers a 30-month, part-time evening program offering clinical and classroom education in the art and science of diagnostic imaging. Initial entrance into the clinical education program requires admission to Rhode Island College with an intention to major in radiologic technology.

During the first 24 months of the program, the student receives classroom instruction two evenings per week and is in clinic two evenings per week.

During the student's last semester they will switch to a "full-time day" education. Classes and clinical education will be held five days per week. Clinical education will take place at Rhode Island Hospital, Hasbro Children's Hospital, University Orthopaedics and Rhode Island Medical Imaging.

Upon successful completion of the program, the student is awarded a certificate and is eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification board examination. Candidates applying for certification beginning January 1, 2015 must have earned an associate, baccalaureate or graduate degree from an institution accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the ARRT. The degree does not need to be in the radiologic sciences.
