Island Hospital serves as the Level I trauma center for southeastern
New England. We are verified by the American College of Surgeons
as a Level I trauma center with both adult and pediatric capability.
The Andrew F. Anderson Emergency Center sees more than 136,000 patients a year;
more than 22,000 of them are trauma patients. This makes the emergency
center at Rhode Island Hospital one of the busiest in the United
States.
