Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Providence

IFCKPThe Injury Prevention Center (IPC) was founded in 1998 by a group of emergency medicine physicians who realized that many of the injuries they treated were preventable. The IPC is based in the department of emergency medicine at Rhode Island, Hasbro Children's, and The Miriam Hospitals in Providence, RI. In its mission to reduce injuries in Rhode Island, the IPC is driven by a three-pronged approach known as CORE: Community Outreach, Research, and Education.

Since its inception the IPC has collaborated on more than 20 injury prevention projects with federal, state and local agencies and or ganizations, with a focus on traffic safety.

Designation as an Injury Free Coalition for Kids site in 2002 allowed the IPC to embark on new injury surveillance efforts and the development of new interventions focused on all childhood injuries.
