Comprehensive Cancer Center
Outpatient Services
The Comprehensive Cancer Center at Rhode Island Hospital, located
on the first floor of the APC Building, provides coordinated care
for cancer patients. The center's staff includes nurses specialized
in chemotherapy and cancer care, many holding national certifications
in clinical oncology. Services include advanced chemotherapy treatments,
blood transfusion, iron infusion and hydration therapy.
Specialized treatment:
One patient at a time
Each patient who arrives at the Comprehensive Cancer Center is
greeted by a primary care nurse who sits down with the patient
and discusses the specific type of cancer and its treatment. The
nurse also discusses each medication that has been prescribed
for the patient and any side effects to expect. After treatment,
nurses follow up with patients to ensure that the treatment went
well and address any concerns the patient may have. The center coordinates each patient's care with various hospital
departments, including clinical social work, psychiatry and nutrition
services, to ensure a convenient and stress-free treatment experience,
tailored to the individual patient's needs.
Getting even better
The Comprehensive
Cancer Center at Lifespan gives patients access to oncology
services at three area hospitals and more than 400 clinical trials
through The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and the National Institutes of Health.
Center hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to
5 p.m. For more information call 401-444-5435.
