Peter G. Trafton, MD

Peter Trafton, MD joined the Rhode Island Hospital and Brown University faculty in 1984 as surgeon-in-charge of orthopedic trauma.
Previously, he was
assistant professor at San Francisco General Hospital and the University of
California San Francisco, where he did his post-graduate training. Trafton is a member of the Academic Council of the International AO-ASIF
Foundation, a past president of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, and of
AO North America and a former member of the Committee on Trauma of the
American College of Surgeons.
Trafton frequently teaches trauma educational
courses in the United States and abroad, and is one of the four editors of
"Skeletal Trauma", a comprehensive textbook on musculoskeletal injuries. He is now
preparing a 4th edition.
Trafton retired as Rhode Isalnd Hospital’s orthopedic
trauma chief, and as director of the hospital's orthopedic trauma fellowship in
August 2005, but continues on the faculty as a consultant and teacher.
Trafton is a graduate of Phillips Academy, Yale University, and Harvard
Medical School.
