About End-of-Life Care
We Are Here For You

Comfort Through Knowledge
|
We at Rhode Island Hospital thank you for allowing us to be a part of this special journey. It is a privilege to assist you with the care of your loved one.
You are not alone. We are here to support you through every
step of the process. During this difficult time, we promise to
provide honest and complete information and excellent coordination
of care.
We want you to be fully informed and have provided the following information about signs and symptoms of approaching death, as well as about pain management, nutrition and hydration at the end of life. If at any time you do not understand something, please do not hesitate to ask a nurse or physician.
About our End-of-Life Caregivers
The end of life caregivers are an interdisciplinary team of
physicians, nurses, social workers and chaplains who are specially
trained to ensure that your medical, physical, emotional and
spiritual needs are met.
We are guided by the core beliefs that when a patient reaches the end of life, he or she:
- Deserves to die with dignity
- Should never feel alone
- Deserves to die without fear or pain
- Should be able to participate in his or
her own care
- Deserve to be treated with
respect and compassion
When a patient is reaching the end of life, we cannot stop the
process, but we can help make it easier by making him or her as
comfortable as we can.
