Imaging and Molecular Biology Core

Specific Aims

• Provide sophisticated, state-of-the-art instrumentation in microscopic imaging and molecular analysis to different projects in the COBRE.
• Provide technical support and expert consultation in tissue, cell, and molecular analysis to multidisciplinary users including biologists, clinicians and engineers.
• Provide training of cutting edge techniques in molecular and morphological analysis to investigators for achieving specific research objectives.
• Facilitate collaborations among different laboratories and disciplines through utilizing common equipment and analyzing techniques.

Equipment

COBRE is purchasing the first piece of equipment: Odyssey Infrared Imaging System from LI-COR. It will be located in the Imaging and Molecular Biology Core. As you may know, the Odyssey System is well known for its cutting edge technology for western blot analysis, which provides accurate quantification, multiplex detection, and high sensitivity. In addition, it can also be used for protein gel documentation, in-cell westerns, protein arrays, gel shift assays, protein phosphorylation analysis, tissue imaging, and in vivo imaging of mice.
