A Nursing Student Associate (NSA) assists the professional nurse in caring for patients and families within the framework of the nursing practice group and is reflective of a student of professional nursing.
An NSA will consistently apply the corporate values of respect, honesty and fairness and the constant pursuit of excellence in improving the health status of the people of the region through the provision of customer friendly, geographically accessible and high-value services within the environment of comprehensive integrated academic health system. They are responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with the principles of the Lifespan Corporate Compliance Program and code of conduct.

Employees selected for the per diem pool will be required to work:
Employees in the per diem pool may not hold another full or part-time position in the hospital. Exempt employees are an exception and may be included in the per diem pool.
The hospital does not guarantee or promise any set number of hours of work per day or per week.
Per diem staff will receive $14/hr.
Shift and weekend differentials are as follows:
Eligibility for retirement benefits will be provided under the same provisions that apply to all other hospital employees. No other benefits will be provided to per diem staff.
No holiday hours will accrue when the Per Diem employee works a holiday. Major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day) will be paid at the usual major holiday premium pay.
Orientation is mandatory and will be provided at the time of employment. The orientation period, as well as minimal requirements throughout the year for meeting, CPR certification and other mandatory education programs, will be compensated at the per diem rate.
