Comprehensive Cancer Center

Rhode Island Hospital is a founding partner of the Comprehensive Cancer Center, which gives patients access to oncology services at three area hospitals and many clinical trials through The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and the National Institutes of Health.

The Comprehensive Cancer Center at Rhode Island Hospital is accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. Accreditation is granted only to those facilities that have voluntarily committed to provide the best in cancer diagnosis and treatment and are able to comply with established Commission on Cancer standards.

Rhode Island Hospital has also been designated a Blue Distinction Center for Complex and Rare Cancers by the national Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island. This designation recognizes the center for excellence in the treatment of brain cancers, as well as acute leukemia and esophageal, gastric, liver, pancreatic, rectal and thyroid cancers.
