  • Women's Health in Emergency Care (WHEC)

  • Emergency physicians have the opportunity to inform the study of gender-specific acute clinical care and are uniquely positioned to translate research into lifesaving outcomes. In 2011, the department of emergency medicine (EM) at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University established a two-year fellowship in the division of women’s health in emergency care (WHEC) in order to train a new generation of physicians in gender-specific emergency medicine. The division includes Brown EM faculty members as well as a multidisciplinary panel of advisors from the medical school and other institutions around the country.

    WHEC Mission

To establish educational and research endeavors that promote sex and gender-specific medicine and women’s health as it relates to the practice of emergency medicine.
