Emergency physicians have the opportunity to inform the study of
gender-specific acute clinical care and are uniquely positioned to
translate research into lifesaving outcomes. In 2011, the department of
emergency medicine (EM) at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown
University established a two-year fellowship in the division of women’s
health in emergency care (WHEC) in order to train a new generation of
physicians in gender-specific emergency medicine. The division includes
