For the 17th consecutive year, Rhode Island Hospital has received the Consumer Choice Award for excellence in providing high-quality patient care by the National Research Corporation. The award identifies hospitals in more than 300 markets throughout the U.S., selected by health care consumers for having the highest quality care. Rhode Island Hospital is the only hospital in the state to receive the Consumer Choice Award.
The award is based on Market Insights/Ticker, the largest consumer survey on health care in the U.S. Consumers in the Providence-New Bedford-Fall River areas ranked Rhode Island Hospital at the top of the list based on four essential consumer metrics: best overall quality, best image/reputation, best doctors and best nurses. This is 17th year that National Research has presented awards to the hospitals based on consumer rankings of high quality health care.
“Patients and their families are taking more active roles in health care decisions than ever before, and they are performing their due diligence before choosing a physician, surgeon or hospital,” said Timothy J. Babineau, MD, president and chief executive officer of Lifespan and president of Rhode Island Hospital. “Rhode Island Hospital has received the Consumer Choice Award every year since its inception 17 years ago, and we are proud that our patients and their families recognize our continued commitment to excellence in patient care, and the patient experience.”
“Customer-centric care is based on the notion of extending patient-centered care to all health care consumers who are taking the initiative with their health care decisions and demanding higher quality,” said Susan L. Henricks, president and chief operating officer for National Research Corporation. “It advocates an all-inclusive, cross-continuum view of care experiences for all health care participants and stakeholders. The goal of this empowering movement and quality improvement initiatives from providers is to provide better outcomes and create positive consumer perceptions. The Consumer Choice Award recognizes hospitals that patients have rated as the most preferred places to receive care according to quality and image.”
For more than 30 years, National Research Corporation (NASDAQ: NRCI) has been at the forefront of patient-centered care. Today, the company’s focus on empowering customer-centric health care across the continuum extends patient-centered care to incorporate families, communities, employees, senior housing residents and other stakeholders.
